The angles of a regular polygon add up to 360 degrees so if it is a REGULAR polygon then all of the angles must be equal/the same. So you do 360 divided by 18 to see how many sides there are so that would give a simple answer of 20. I was able to work this out in my head by doing 36 divided 18 (I took the 0 off the 360 to make the sum easier) which = 2 and then added the 0 back on from the 360 which gave me 20. So the regular polygon has 20 sides

The formula of the measurement of an exterior angle of a regular polygon is
β = 360°/n
where β = exterior angle and n = number of sides

Therefore,
n = 360°/β = 360°/18° = 20 sides

The line perpendicular to y= (-3/2)x -4 and goes through (1,4)
Paladinen [302]

Answer <u>(assuming it is allowed to be in point-slope format)</u>:

y-4 = \frac{2}{3}(x-1)

Step-by-step explanation:

1) First, determine the slope. We know it has to be perpendicular to the given equation, y = -\frac{3}{2} x-4. That equation is already in slope-intercept form, or y = mx + b format, in which m represents the slope. Since -\frac{3}{2} is in place of the m in the equation, that must be the slope of the given line.

Slopes that are perpendicular are opposite reciprocals of each other (they have different signs, and the denominators and numerators switch places). Thus, the slope of the new line must be \frac{2}{3}.

2) Now, use the point-slope formula, y-y_1 = m (x-x_1) to write the new equation with the given information. Substitute m, x_1, and y_1 for real values.

The m represents the slope, so substitute \frac{2}{3} in its place. The x_1 and y_1 represent the x and y values of a point the line intersects. Since the point crosses (1,4), substitute 1 for x_1 and 4 for y_1. This gives the following equation and answer:

y-4 = \frac{2}{3}(x-1)

Ray has found that his new car gets 31 miles per gallon on the highwayand 26 miles per gallon in the city. He recently drove 285
Mkey [24]

Answer:

Highway = 155\ miles

City = 130\ miles

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Highway = 31mi/gallon

City = 26mi/gallon

Total\ Miles = 285

Total\ Gallons = 10

Required

Determine the number of miles driven on the highway and on the city

Represent the gallons used on highway with h and on city with c.

So, we have:

c + h = 10 ---- gallons used

and

31h + 26c = 285 --- distance travelled

In the first equation, make c the subject

c = 10 - h

Substitute 10 - h for c in the second equation

31h + 26c = 285

31h + 26(10 - h) = 285

Open bracket

31h + 260 - 26h = 285

Collect like terms

31h - 26h = 285 - 260

5h = 25

Make h the subject

h = \frac{25}{5}

h = 5

Substitute 5 for h in c = 10 - h

c = 10 - 5

c = 5

If on the highway, he travels 31 miles per gallon, then his distance on the highway is:

Highway = 31 * 5

Highway = 155\ miles

If in the highway, he travels 26 miles per gallon, then his distance on the highway is:

City = 26 * 5

City = 130\ miles
