I can't really answer this for you. I would love to write the essay for you but, I don't have time and this is your work. Here are some tips:
Gather the information that you'll need and then decide on how you want to start the essay. Say stuff like, If I was to be a nurse than.......or My grandfather has influenced me because.....
Then once you have your beginning paragraph, work on your body paragraphs, putting the least exciting information to most exciting information. Then wrap up your essay and conclude what you were talking about. Make sure you keep your readers attention. Hope this helps!

You can take "in fact" out of the sentence to help with determine what type of sentence it is because it's a prepositional phrase. This leaves us with "Only a small percentage of Southern Africa is desert" which is a simple sentence.
