PLEASE ANSWER ASAP!!! POINTS GIVEN!!! EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!!! MUST BE CORRECT TO RECEIVE POINTS!! QUESTION IS IN THE ATTACHED IMA

GE!!! THANK YOU!!!
For centuries, people have been puzzled over what caused dinosaurs to die off. Today, there are several theories about what caused the extinction of dinosaurs. There are two primary theories, and scientists who study these theories fall into two main categories—intrinsic gradualists and extrinsic catastrophists.

The intrinsic gradualists believe that increased volcanic activity at the end of the Cretaceous period led to the dinosaurs dying out. According to this theory, volcanoes all over the world were erupting at different intervals for a period of several million years. Soot and ash from these eruptions may have gradually accumulated in the atmosphere and blocked the sunlight causing the Earth's surface to cool. This climate change may have led to the extinction of dinosaurs. The volcanoes may have affected the Earth's surface as well. There is a layer of rock in the Earth's crust known as the Cretaceous-Tertiary (K-T) boundary. The layer is found worldwide, and it contains a high level of iridium, a type of metal. The K-T boundary marks the end of the Cretaceous period and the beginning of the Tertiary period. Some scientists believe the high level of iridium found in the K-T boundary may have come from molten rock that spewed from the volcanoes.

The extrinsic catastrophists believe that a giant comet or meteor crashed into Earth. The crash may have been the catalyst for the extinction of dinosaurs. The impact of such an object would have thrown large amounts of debris into the air all at once. The debris would have blocked out the sunlight and caused the planet to cool. The impact would also have caused earthquakes, tsunamis, and other natural disasters. Some scientists argue that the high level of iridium in the K-T boundary may have come from the meteor rather than from the volcanoes. Some of these scientists believe that several comets or meteors collided with Earth over a relatively short period of time. These theorists think the extinction of dinosaurs resulted from the multiple impacts.

Although some evidence supports each theory, neither of the theories is conclusive. None of the theories explain why the dinosaurs went extinct while many mammals and small reptiles were able to survive. Also, fossil records found in some areas support a gradual decline while fossil records found in other areas support a sudden die out. For now, scientists must continue to search for answers about what caused the extinction of dinosaurs.

After reading the short story that you have provided us, I have concluded that the answer is C and I agree with @Kitkatgirl101.

This is the answer to the sentence that the author stated since you need to provide evidence to show that dinosaurs existed if you want to prove the statement true.

Hope I helped and wasn't too late in answering! :)

antiseptic1488 [7]

The sentence with a conjunction that correctly coordinates the two independent clauses and demonstrates one event ocurring before another event can occur is B) "We may go to the movies later, but I need to do my homework first".

<u>This sentence contains the coordinating conjunction "but", which is joining two independent clauses</u>, that is, clauses that can stand on its own since they include all the information that is necessary to become complete sentences. <u>The two independent clauses in this sentence are</u><u> "We may go to the movies later"</u><u> and </u><u>"I need to do my homework first"</u>. Moreover, the word "first" in the second clause indicates that the event described in this clause occurrs before the event described in the first clause. This is also indicated by the word "later" in the first clause. Furthermore, "but" suggests the existence of the speaker's condition of doing homework before going to the movies.

inysia [295]

Hello there!

1. You use rhetorical devices to help persuade a reader. The indented effect is that the audience is successfully persuaded to do, or believe in what you are trying to get them to.

<em>How did I get this answer? By googling "rhetorical devices" I learned that they were a "persuasive device, or stylistic device is a technique that an author or speaker uses to convey to the listener or reader a meaning with the goal of persuading them." This means they're used in persuasive writings, to persuade a writer into believing something the author does. </em>

2. There have been many times recently where people are starting to speak up about cultural issues. Some more mainstream ones include racial inequality and the fight for racial equality, fight for women's rights and equality and fight for LGBTQ+ rights.

<em>How did i get this answer? Staying up-to-date on what's going on in the news and on social media can help you get a better understanding of social issues. </em>

I hope this helps, and have a great day! Please don't hesitate to ask if you need more help with this specific question!

Katen [24]
C. gloom
not A (obviously)
not D (only 1 out of 2 phrases fits into the category of winter)
not B (the two phrases don't really relate to defeat, though dreary kindaaaa does)
so it has to be C.
