In most cases, hyperbole is used to obtain comedic/humorous effect toward a certain character or a situation.
The uses of hyperbole could be identified by spotting the sentence that are actually relevant but impossible to happen.
Examples:
"Your head is as big as mount everest."
"Your sister is as thin as a toothpick."
