Velocity is the speed with a direction and speed does not have a direction.

For example your driving 200km/hr (the speed) in a northerly direction. This is analogous to the difference between distance and displacement.

The path of the earth around the sun is an ellipse with the sun at one focus. The ellipse has a major axis of 186,000,000 miles
Charra [1.4K]

Answer:

a) r = 182838000\,mi, b) r = 189162000\,mi

Explanation:

a) The distance between the center and one of the foci is:

c = \epsilon \cdot a

c = (0.017)\cdot (186000000\,mi)

c = 3162000\,mi

The shortest distance is:

r = a - c

r = 186000000\,mi -3162000\,mi

r = 182838000\,mi

b) The longest distance is:

r = a + c

r = 186000000\,mi +3162000\,mi

r = 189162000\,mi

a steam engine work on its vicinity 285 k heat is released with the help of 225 c energy absorbed to the system what is the effi
-Dominant- [34]

The efficiency of the steam engine is 78.9% because the rest of the work input is used to overcome friction.

<h3>What is efficiency of machines?</h3>

Efficiency of a machine expresses the useful work done by a a machine as a percentage.

  • Efficiency of a machine = work output/work input × 100 %%

The efficiency of machines are always less than 100% percent due to energy losses due to friction and heat.

For the steam engine:

Work output = 225 J

Work input = 285 J

Efficiency = 225/285 × 100% = 78.9 %

Therefore, the efficiency of the steam engine is 78.9% because the rest of the work input is used to overcome friction.

a car with a mass of 1200 kilograms is moving around a circular curve at a uniform velocity of 20 meters per second. the centrip
qaws [65]
Well, first of all, a car moving around a circular curve is not moving
with uniform velocity.  The direction of motion is part of velocity, and
the direction is constantly changing on a curve.

The centripetal force that keeps an object moving in a circle is

         Force  =  (mass of the object) · (speed)² / (radius of the circle)

         F  =  m s² / r

We want to know the radius, to rearrange the formula to give us
the radius as a function of everything else.

                                          F     =  m s² / r

Multiply each side by 'r':       F· r  =  m · s²

Divide each side by 'F':            r  =  m · s² / F

We know all the numbers on the right side,
so we can pluggum in:

                      r  =       m       ·        s²      /     F

                      r  =  (1200 kg) · (20 m/s)² / (6000 N) .

I'm pretty sure you can finish it up from here.

vampirchik [111]

Answer:

6.46393559312 m/s²

Explanation:

Time taken to cover 56 m

t=\dfrac{56}{29}\ s

Distance covered in 0.42 seconds

0.42\times 20=8.4\ m

From equation of linear motion

s=ut+\frac{1}{2}at^2

8.4+20(\dfrac{56}{29}-0.42)+\dfrac{1}{2}a(\dfrac{56}{29}-0.42)^2=46\\\Rightarrow a=(46-8.4-20(\dfrac{56}{29}-0.42))\times\dfrac{2}{(\dfrac{56}{29}-0.42)^2}\\\Rightarrow a=6.46393559312\ m/s^2

The minimum acceleration is 6.46393559312 m/s²
