In August 1805 Lewis and Clark were looking for the Shoshone Indians. The Corps (Lewis and Clark's expedition party) needed horses to cross the Rockies and the Shoshone had them. Sacagawea, a member of the Corps, was Shoshone, but she had been kidnapped by another tribe many years before.
The Corps were still recovering from their portage around the Great Falls of Missouri. Morale was low. Lewis and three men were scouting ahead when they finally met a band of Shoshone. They were the first white men the Shoshone had ever seen.

hope this helps in anyway! :)

Which event was the main cause of the end of the war in the Pacific?
VikaD [51]
The dropping of atomic bombs on Japan.

While island-hopping was restoring strategic territories to the Allies' side (reclaiming those places from Japanese control), and while the bloody battles on the Japanese home islands of  Iwo Jima and Okinawa ultimately were Allied victories, Japan was not ready to surrender,.  The USA considered a land invasion of the main island of Japan too high a cost to pay, and chose to use the atomic bombs to force a final end to the war in the Pacific.  Those bombs brought about Japan's surrender.
