The balanced equation for the reaction between NaI and Cl₂
2NaI and Cl₂ --> 2NaCl + I₂
stoichiometry of NaI to I₂ is 2:1
this means that when 2 mol of NaI reacts, it produces 1 mol of I₂
Molar mass of I₂ is 254 g/mol
Number of I₂ moles produced - 48.7 g / 254 g/mol = 0.192 mol
for 1 mol of I₂ to be formed - 2 mol of NaI required
Therefore to form 0.192 mol of I₂ - 2 x 0.192 = 0.384 mol of NaI
Then mass of NaI required - 0.384 mol x 150 g/mol = 57.6 g

Why can more sugar be dissolved in hot water than cold water (more solute be dissolved in hot solvent then cold solvent)
lesantik [10]
Sugar dissolves faster in hot water than it does in cold water because hot water has more energy than cold water. when water is heated, the molecules gain energy and because of that, move faster. as they move faster, they come in contact with the sugar more often, causing it to dissolve faster.

What happens in a displacement reaction
ruslelena [56]

Answer:

Displacement reactions occur when a metal from the electrochemical series is mixed with the ions of a metal lower down in the electrochemical series. The atoms of the more reactive metal push their electrons on to ions of the less reactive metal. An example can be seen below.

Why are mitochondria called the powerhouses of cells
eduard

Mitochondria are tiny organelles inside cells that are involved in releasing energy from food. This process is known as cellular respiration. It is for this reason that mitochondria are often referred to as the powerhouses of the cell.

When the breakdown products from the digestion of food find their way into the cell, a series of chemical reactions occur in the cytoplasm. This allows some of the energy locked up in these products to be released and incorporated into the universal energy supplier in cells known as ATP (adenosine triphosphate).

When [H+] = 3.33 x 10-7 what is the ph?
Fittoniya [83]

Answer:

6.48

Explanation:

The pH of a solution can be found by using the formula

pH = - log ([ {H}^{+} ])

From the question we have

pH = - log(3.33 \times {10}^{ - 7} ) \\ = 6.477555...

We have the final answer as

6.48

Hope this helps you
