To function properly a rainwater outflow pipe must drop exactly 1 inch for every 25 inches of horizontal distance . A design cal

ls for a drainage pipe to drop 25 inches as it crosses a building 45 feet wide.will the drainage pipe function properly?
a)The pipe does not drop enough vertically to function properly.
b)The pipe drops too much vertically to function properly.

B, the pipe drops too much vertically to function properly.

We start off knowing the horizontal distance, 45 feet. We multiply that by 12 to convert it to inches, and we get 540. Now, we divide 540 by 25 to find out how many inches the pipe needs to drop. Turns out, 540/25 is 21.6, so 25 isn’t the exact inches we need it to drop. It drops too much.

a tank can hold up to 500 gallons of water.A gauge reading shows that it is at 80% of its capacity. How many more gallons can it
Paha777 [63]
So we start out by finding out what 80% of 500 is by,

500 * .80 = 400

So if 80% is 400 that means that there is still space available for 100 more gallons!

How the heck did we know that?!?

simple 500- 400= 100

So that leaves us knowing that there are 100 gallons left that can be held!! :)

                            So your answer is 100 gallons!!

I hope that this helped!

Given: KLIJ is inscribed in circle k(O)
Tems11 [23]

Check the picture below.

let's notice that the angle at K is an inscribed angle with an intercepted arc

\bf \stackrel{\textit{using the inscribed angle theorem}}{K=\cfrac{\widehat{LI}+\widehat{IJ}}{2}}\implies 9x+1=\cfrac{(10x-1)+59}{2} \\\\\\ 9x+1=\cfrac{10x+58}{2}\implies 18x+2=10x+58\implies 8x+2=58 \\\\\\ 8x=56\implies x=\cfrac{56}{8}\implies x=7 \\\\[-0.35em] ~\dotfill\\\\ K=9x+1\implies K=9(7)+1\implies \boxed{K=64}

now, let's notice something again, the angle at L is also an inscribed angle, intercepting and arc of 97 + 59 = 156, so then, by the inscribed angle theorem,

∡L is half that, or 78°.

now, let's take a look at the picture down below, to the inscribed quadrilateral conjecture, since ∡J and ∡I are both supplementary angles, then

∡I = 180 - 64 = 116°.

∡J = 180 - 78 = 102°.

The ratio of two complementary angles is 4:1. Find the measure of both angles.
zmey [24]

Answer:

72 : 18

Step-by-step explanation:

The ratio of the two complementary angles is 4 : 1

4x + 1x = 90

5x = 90

x =18

4x = 4(18) = 72

x = 18

Therefore the ratio is 72 : 18

Answer: 72 : 18
