Use the formula 0 = b^2-4ac

0 = -b^2-4(2)(-9)

0 = -b^2+72

b^2 = 72

b = square root of 72

b = 2 real numbers

Which of the following represent the rule y = x + 2? Input x -3 -2 -1 0 1 Output y -1 0 1 2 3 Input x 3 4 5 6 7 Output y 5 7 9 1
ziro4ka [17]
We know that
the rule is
y=x+2
then
for x=-3 -------------------> y=-3+2=-1
for x=-2 -------------------> y=-2+2=0
for x=-1 -------------------> y=-1+2=1
for x=0 ------------------->  y=0+2=2
for x=1 ------------------->  y=1+2=3

for x=3 -------------------> y=3+2=5
for x=4 -------------------> y=4+2=6
for x=5 -------------------> y=5+2=7
for x=6 -------------------> y=6+2=8
for x=7 -------------------> y=7+2=9

the answer is
<span>Input x -3 -2 -1 0 1 Output y -1 0 1 2 3</span>

A customer is ordering brick pavers to cover a rectangular walkway that is 3 feet by 15 feet and a square sitting area
Darina [25.2K]

A customer should buy minimum 16 boxes of pavers.

In this question, a customer is ordering brick pavers to cover a rectangular walkway that is 3 feet by 15 feet and a square sitting area that is 6 feet on a side.

First we find the total area that will be covered by  pavers.

Area of rectangle = length × width

Area of rectangle = 15 × 3

Area of rectangle = 45

And the area of square = side²

             area of square =   6²

             area of square =  36

So, the total area would be,

Total area = area of rectangle + area of square

Total area = 45 + 36

Total area = 81

So, the total area is 81 square feet.

one box of pavers covers 5.28 square feet.

So using unitary method,

81 / 5.28

= 15.534

≈ 16 boxes

This means, approximately 16 boxes will require to cover the above area.

Therefore, the customer should buy minimum 16 boxes of pavers.

Integral from negative 1 to 1 left parenthesis 2 x squared plus 5 right parenthesis dxI. Using the trapezoidal rulea. Estimate t
ANEK [815]

Split the integration interval [-1, 1] into 4 subintervals:

[-1, -1/2], [-1/2, 0], [0, 1/2], [1/2, 1]

Each subinterval has a length of 1/2, which acts as the height of the corresponding trapezoid over the subinterval. The "bases" of the trapezoid are the function's values at the endpoint of the subinterval. For instance, over the first subinterval, we have

f(x)=2x^2+5\implies\begin{cases}f(-1)=7\\f\left(-\frac12\right)=\frac{11}2\end{cases}

So over this subinterval, the trapezoid contributes an area of

\dfrac{f(-1)+f\left(-\frac12\right)}2\cdot\dfrac12=\dfrac{25}8

Do the same with the other 3 trapezoids; you'll find

\displaystyle\int_{-1}^12x^2+5\,\mathrm dx\approx\frac{23}2
