It was an intellectual, social and artistic explosion, also known as the " New Negro Movement'. It represented a golden age in African American culture, manifesting in literature, music, stage performance and arts.

The Harlem Renaissance spread African American culture to white Americans and made many of white Americans more tolerant and open-minded. It installed a sense of pride among African American and helped to spread their cultural heritage across the country.
