Opposite sides are equal in a parallelogram.

3a-12 = \frac{1}{2}a-7

\frac{5}{2}a = 5

a = 2

laiz [17]
First you would have to convert , so 12 inches = 1 foot . So do 12 X 16= 192inches, then subtract 192-6=186inches should be the difference IN INCHES. If you need it in feet divide 186 by 12 which should give you 15.5feet

Any one can help me please please I need help please each one 3 step explanation
Art [367]

Answer:

a) Area of wall to be painted = 114 sq ft

b) Number of cans required = 2×5 = 10

c) Total cost of paint = $338.43

Step-by-step explanation:

<h2>Part a)</h2>

We are asked to find the area of wall that needs to be painted.

we need to subtract the area of window from the area of wall.

We know that area of a rectangular shape is given by

Area = Width×Length

Area of whole wall = 8×15 = 120 sq ft

Area of window = 2×3 = 6 sq ft

Area of wall to be painted = 120 - 6 = 114 sq ft

<h2>Part b)</h2>

1 can of paint will cover 25 sq ft of area.

So to cover the area of wall to be painted,

114/25 = 4.56

since number of cans cannot be in fraction so we would need 5 cans

Since two coats of paints are needed so

Number of cans required = 2×5 = 10

<h2>Part c)</h2>

1 can of paint costs $29.95

We have total 10 cans

$29.95×10 = $299.5

There is also a 13% tax so the total cost is

$299.5×0.13 = $38.93

Total cost of paint = $299.5 + $38.93

Total cost of paint = $338.43

A prism is filled with 70 cubes with a side length of 1 2 unit. What is the volume of the prism in cubic units? Enter answer as
galina1969 [7]

Answer:

The volume of the cube is;

8\dfrac{3}{4} \ cube \, units

Step-by-step explanation:

The parameters of the prism are;

The number of cubes used to fill the prism, n = 70 cubes

The side length of each cube, s = 1/2 unit

The volume of the cube, V = n × s³

∴ Therefore, the volume of the cube, V = 70 × (1/2)³ = 8\dfrac{3}{4} \ cube \, units = 8.75 cube unit

Can someone explain what geometric sequences are?
Fed [463]

Explanation:

A sequence is a list of numbers.

A <em>geometric</em> sequence is a list of numbers such that the ratio of each number to the one before it is the same. The common ratio can be any non-zero value.

<u>Examples</u>

  • 1, 2, 4, 8, ... common ratio is 2
  • 27, 9, 3, 1, ... common ratio is 1/3
  • 6, -24, 96, -384, ... common ratio is -4

___

<u>General Term</u>

Terms of a sequence are numbered starting with 1. We sometimes use the symbol a(n) or an to refer to the n-th term. The general term of a geometric sequence, a(n), can be described by the formula ...

  a(n) = a(1)×r^(n-1) . . . . . n-th term of a geometric sequence

where a(1) is the first term, and r is the common ratio. The above example sequences have the formulas ...

  • a(n) = 2^(n -1)
  • a(n) = 27×(1/3)^(n -1)
  • a(n) = 6×(-4)^(n -1)

You can see that these formulas are exponential in nature.

__

<u>Sum of Terms</u>

Another useful formula for geometric sequences is the formula for the sum of n terms.

  S(n) = a(1)×(r^n -1)/(r -1) . . . . . sum of n terms of a geometric sequence

When |r| < 1, the sum converges as n approaches infinity. The infinite sum is ...

  S = a(1)/(1-r)
