The price of 1 sweater before the tax and coupon is $ 13.6

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

Jocelyn bought 2 sweaters for the same price.

The total amount she paid for 2 sweaters is 23.56 dollars.

To find the price of 1 sweater we have to remove the tax and discount amounts.

The tax amount = 1.36 dollars.

The total amount for 2 sweaters excluded tax amount= 23.56 - 1.36.

= 22.2 dollars.

The total amount for 2 sweaters after removing discount amount =22.2+5.00.

= 27.2 dollars.

2 sweaters= 27.2.

1 sweaters = \frac{27.2}{2}.

= 13.6 dollars.

∴ The price of 1 sweater before the tax and coupon is $ 13.6

The length of a rectangle is 8 1/2 inches and the width is 3 1/4 inches. What is the ratio, using whole numbers, of the length t
frosja888 [35]
Short answer 34/13
Start by converting both to improper fractions.

8 1/2 = (2*8 + 1)/2 = 17/2

3 1/4 = (3*4 + 1)/4 = 13/4

Next set up a 4 layer fraction

\dfrac{\dfrac{17}{2}}{\dfrac{13}{4} }

Invert the lower fraction and multiply\dfrac{17}{2}* \dfrac{4}{13}

Cancel the 2 and the 4 leaving you with a 2 in the numerator.\dfrac{17*2}{13} =\dfrac{34}{13}

Use technology to determine an appropriate model of the data. (-1,0), (1,-4), (2,-3), (4,5), (5,12)
Vinil7 [7]
By graphing the points, The best mode of the data will be the quadratic function

There is 5 steps to find the quadratic function that models the data.

First step           ⇒ Plot the data pairs (x, y) in a coordinate plane.
                              which are the blue circles in the attached figure

Second step     ⇒ Draw the parabola you think best fits the data.
                             Which is the red function in the attached figure.

Third step         ⇒ Estimate the coordinates of three points on the
                             parabola, which are (-1, 0), (2, -3), and (5, 12).

Fourth step       ⇒ Substitute the coordinates of the points into the model
                            y = ax² + bx + c
                            to obtain a system of three linear equations.

                            a - b + c = 0           ---------(1)
                            4a + 2 b + c = -3    ---------(2)
                            25a + 5 b + c = 12 ---------(3)

Fifth step   ⇒ Solve the linear system.
                      By using the calculator
                      a = 1 , b = -2 , c = -3

So, the quadratic model for the data is ⇒ y = x² - 2x - 3
