Selective breeding:

Selective breeding or artificial selection is a process used by humans to develop new organisms with desirable characteristics. It is the traditional method for improving crops and livestock like-increasing disease resistance or milk yield. This process result in modification of an organism's genotype.

Genetic Engineering:

This implies the modification of the characteristics of an organism by manipulating its genetic material. This also result in modification of an organism's genotype. Genetic engineering is a non traditional and faster way to transplant genes of a desired characteristic into an organism.

What term is used to refer to the process in which dna can be introduced into host bacterial cells?
Anna71 [15]

There are three ways in which exogenous dna can be introduced into a bacterial genome. These are; transduction, transformation and conjugation. Transduction is the introduction of exogenous material into bacteria by viruses; conjugation is exchange of genetic material between bacteria sexual through  reproduction; while transformation is uptake of exogenous dna by bacteria, from its surrounding, through the bacterial membrane.

Select the correct answer. Which statement about natural selection is true? A. Natural selection and evolution are two terms for
Masja [62]

Answer:

C. Natural selection is the process by which organisms with more beneficial traits are more likely to survive and reproduce.

Explanation:

Natural selection is an evolutional process by which species of living organisms with stronger or more beneficial traits have higher chances of survival and reproduction. In other words, it is the process by which organisms adapt and survive.

Organisms in a population are all different in their own ways. And those with characteristics or traits better suited for the environment are more likely to survive than those without. The selection prefers more beneficial traits and not wholly on the superiority of the organism. So, the survival and reproduction chance of an organism depends on the presence of traits beneficial to the environment, which is how nature selects. And in this process, those selected will dominate the population while those rejected will be reduced or even die.

Thus, the correct answer is option C.

Without genetic variation, natural selection would not be possible. Explain why.
Paha777 [63]

Answer:

Evolution is not a random process. The genetic variation on which natural selection acts may occur randomly, but natural selection itself is not random at all. The survival and reproductive success of an individual is directly related to the ways its inherited traits function in the context of its local environment.
