Answer:

Against:  United States involvement in the Boxer Rebellion would have contradicted the ideals George Washington laid out in his farewell address. It also would have violated the Monroe Doctrine by becoming involved in Europe's colonial matters

For:  United States needed to be involved in order to get a piece of China (which was a new colonial region that the UK, France, Japan, and Germany all were trying to take a piece of)

Answer:

Reasons in favor of U.S. involvement in the Boxer Rebellion:

1.- The Boxers attacked United States Citizens

2.- United States citizens' interests were in risk

Reasons against U.S. involvement in the Boxer Rebellion:

1.- United States' citizens that had not been attacked could have been targeted because of the intervention.

2.- The interests of the United States Citizens that hadn't been damaged could be compromised.

Explanation:

First of all, the Boxers attacked foreigners including United States citizens based on racism. Second, many of the United States citizens' interests in China were compromised already, so the United States government had to support them. However, that could compromise citizens' and citizen's interests in China that had not been compromised already.
