A manager wishes to determine the relationship between the number of miles traveled (in hundreds of miles) by her sales repres

entatives and their amount of sales (in thousands of dollars) per month. Find the equation of the regression line for the given data. What would be the predicted sales if the sales representative traveled 0 miles? Is this reasonable? Why or why not? Round the predicted sales to the nearest dollar. Round the regression line values to the nearest hundredth.

Answer:

y=3.53 x +37.92

And for 0 miles if we use the model we got:

y(0)= 3.53*0 +37.92 = 37.92

But for this case. No is not reasonable for a representative to travel o miles and have a positive amount of sales.

Step-by-step explanation:

For this case we assume the following data:

Miles traveled (X): 2,3,10,7,8,15,3,1,11

Sales (Y): 31,33,78,62,65,61,48,55,120

We want to found a linear model like this one : y = mx+b. Where:

m=\frac{S_{xy}}{S_{xx}}

Where:

S_{xy}=\sum_{i=1}^n x_i y_i -\frac{(\sum_{i=1}^n x_i)(\sum_{i=1}^n y_i)}{n}

S_{xx}=\sum_{i=1}^n x^2_i -\frac{(\sum_{i=1}^n x_i)^2}{n}

With these we can find the sums:

S_{xx}=\sum_{i=1}^n x^2_i -\frac{(\sum_{i=1}^n x_i)^2}{n}=582-\frac{60^2}{9}=182

S_{xy}=\sum_{i=1}^n x_i y_i -\frac{(\sum_{i=1}^n x_i)(\sum_{i=1}^n y_i)}{n}=4329-\frac{60*553}{9}=642.33

And the slope would be:

m=\frac{642.33}{182}=3.529

Nowe we can find the means for x and y like this:

\bar x= \frac{\sum x_i}{n}=\frac{60}{9}=6.667

\bar y= \frac{\sum y_i}{n}=\frac{553}{9}=61.444

And we can find the intercept using this:

b=\bar y -m \bar x=61.444-(3.529*6.667)=37.917

So the line would be given by:

y=3.53 x +37.92

And for 0 miles if we use the model we got:

y(0)= 3.53*0 +37.92 = 37.92

But for this case. No is not reasonable for a representative to travel o miles and have a positive amount of sales.

width of a rectangle is five lesson three times the length of the rectangle if the perimeter of the rectangle is 70 inches what
gregori [183]

Answer:

Length = 10 inches

width = 25 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the length of the rectangle be X inches

width = (3x - 5) inches

 Perimeter of rectangle =  70 inches

     2 * ( l + b)   = 70

2 * ( x + 3x - 5) = 70

             4x - 5 = 70 / 2

             4x - 5 = 35

                    4x = 35 + 5

                    4x = 40

                       x = 40/4

                        x = 10

Length = 10 inches

width = 3x - 5 = 3*10 - 5 = 30- 5 =  25 inches

The Widget Company is planning to produce widgets. The company has rented space for its manufacturing operation at $4,000 per mo
soldier1979 [14.2K]
For the answer to the question above asking to <span>Find the total cost if it makes 350 widgets in a month.</span>  the total cost for a single widget: $32 + $44 = $76 for one widget.

So, since we know the cost of one widget is $76, then the price of 350 widgets would be = $76 x 350 = $26,600.

Use the elimination method to solve the system of equations. Choose the
lesantik [10]

Answer:

The answer is B.

Step-by-step explanation:

When Elimination method is applied, you have to eliminate one of the variables from both equations. Firstly, both equations contain 4y so you can subtract it :

7x + 4y = 39 -  -  - (1)

2x + 4y = 14 -  -  - (2)

(1) - (2)

7x + 4y - 2x - 4y = 39 - 14

5x = 25

x = 25 \div 5

x = 5

Next, you have to substitute x = 5 to any equations. I will choose to put in (2) :

substitute \: x = 5 \: into \: (2)

2(5) + 4y = 14

10 + 4y = 14

4y = 14 - 10

4y = 4

y = 4 \div 4

y = 1

Therefore, put your answer in coordinate form :

x = 5 \\ y = 1

(5,1)
