If grey feathers is a recessive trait, then 72.8% of the population is heterozygous for this trait.

Explanation:

The concept used here is of Hardy Weinberg principle, p^{2} + q^{2} +2pq =1

The homozygous dominant genotypeis represented as p^{2} = 84

Red = dominant

The homozygous recessive genotype trait is represented as q^{2} = 16

grey = recessive

2pq = heterozygous individual

Thus for dominant homozygous the alleles are given as

p= \sqrt{84}

  = 9.1

q = \sqrt{16}

  = 4

for heterozygous individual 2pq

2 x 9.1 x 4

= 72.8

72.8% population is heterozygous for the trait.

In pea plants the allele for tall plants in dominant to the allele for short plants, and the allele for purple flower colour is
Tom [10]

Answer:

The correct answer is - 4. ttPp

Explanation:

Given - tall is dominant over short pea plant

let assume T is dominant and t is short which is recessive

Similarly, P for dominant purple flower and p for white flower

The offspring has a short plant which means it has both t allele or recessive allele for the height of a plant by the cross of a true-breeding purple and true-breeding white:

    P   P

p   Pp Pp

p   Pp Pp

This means the offspring would have a heterozygous case for the genotype of the flower of the pea plant

Thus, the correct answer is ttPp

Why is density a derived unit?
Triss [41]
Density is a derived unit because it's not reported as a pure unit. (A pure unit would be something like kilograms or meters.) In contrast, the units for density are kg/m3. Density is the ratio of mass to volume; mass has the unit 'kilograms' (kg) and the unit for volume is cubic meters (m3).

Density is an intensive property, which means the amount of the material is irrelevant. The density of a substance is constant.
