why didn’t the delegates at the First Continental Congress call for independence from Britain at this time?

most of the revolution ideals were coming from the north where many british troops were housed, mostly in boston. The south didn't see any threat from the british because of their lack of interaction with the north. Also, the southern states needed british troops for protection against natives in the florida region
