To solve this, sketch a diagram (I attached one). You will see it the wall and ladder and ground form a right triangle. Use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the base.

a^2+b^2=c^2

a^2+4^2=5^2 \\  \\ a^2+16=25 \\  \\ a^2=9 \\  \\  \sqrt{a^2} = \sqrt{9}  \\  \\ a=3

The bottom of the ladder must be 3 feet from the base of the wall.

Jane is asked to buy some chickens, dogs and ducks for her farm. The total number of animals she needs to buy is 50. She has a b
PtichkaEL [24]

Answer:

x + y + z = 50

20x +50 y +30 z = 1500

x = z

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Chicken = c

Dog = y

Duck = z

Since, she wants to buy 50 in total; This can be modeled by:

x + y + z = 50

Considering the budget, we have:

20x +50 y +30 z = 1500

Lastly, we have that

x = z

i.e. Chicken = ducks

Leokris [45]

Answer:

angleQ+angleR is 180degrees because of the properties of isoceles trapezoid. So, if you set equation and solve, you'll get the fact that x is 12, and angleR is 130degrees, and angleQ is 50degrees. According to the properties of isoceles trapezoid, angleQ is the same as angleT. So, angleT is 50degrees
