Compare and contrast the exercise principles of progression and overload. Progression is gradually increasing the amount and type of stimulus applied to the muscle during each exercise. Overload is increasing the amount of activity such as the weight, duration, speed, and distance.
You first have to apply the principle of overload to your exercise regimen or else you will not get better. Over time, your body gets used to the overload and you have to apply more. That is where the principle of progression comes in.
