For questions 2-3 what is each number when written in scientific notation

Mathematics

Doss [256]4 years ago

Answer:

For scientific notation, we write one number to the left of the decimal point and the other numbers are written as a power of ten.

2.)1,220,000,000

1.22\times10^{9}

3.)0.0287

We can write this in fraction form as:

\frac{287}{10000}

So, when 10000 will go up that is in numerator it will hold a negative power.

So, in scientific notation it will be 2.87\times10^{-2}

Let a and b be real numbers satisfying a^3 - 3ab^2 = 47 and b^3 - 3a^2 b = 52. Find a^2 + b^2.
boyakko [2]

Answer: a²+b² = -99/2

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we are given two equations, this equations will be solved simultaneously to get a² and b²

a³ - 3ab² = 47 ... 1

b³ - 3a² b = 52... 2

From 1, a(a² - 3b²) = 47...3

From 2, b(b² - 3a²) = 52... 4

Adding 3 and 4, we have;

a²+b²-3b²-3a² = 99 (note that a and b will no longer be part of the equations as they have been factored out)

a²+b²-(3b²+3a²) = 99

(a²+b²) -3(b²+a²)= 99

Taking the difference we have

- 2(a²+b²) = 99

a²+b² = -99/2

What is the answer??
Lemur [1.5K]

Answer:

h(3) = - 140

Step-by-step explanation:

Generate the terms in the sequence by substituting n = 2 and 3 into h(n)

h(2) = h(2 - 1) × 2 = h(1) × 2 = - 35 × 2 = - 70

h(3) = h(3 - 1) × 2 = h(2) × 2 = - 70 × 2 = - 140

The Demand function for a product is given by:
VikaD [51]

Answer:

The average rate of change of Demand between 40 and 175 units sold is of -0.1045.

Step-by-step explanation:

Average rate of change:

The average rate of a function f(x) in an interval [a,b] is given by:

A = \frac{f(b) - f(a)}{b - a}

In this question:

D(q) = -0.0003q^2 - 0.04q + 23.56

What is the average rate of change of Demand between 40 and 175 units sold?

a = 40, b = 175. So

D(40) = -0.0003*40^2 - 0.04*40 + 23.56 = 21.48

D(175) = -0.0003*175^2 - 0.04*175 + 23.56 = 7.3725

So

A = \frac{f(b) - f(a)}{b - a} = \frac{7.3725 - 21.48}{175 - 40} = -0.1045

The average rate of change of Demand between 40 and 175 units sold is of -0.1045.

What is the solution of the equation (x – 5)2 + 3(x – 5) + 9 = 0? Use u substitution and the quadratic formula to solve.
Vitek1552 [10]
(X-5)2+3(X-5)+9 = 0
let expand the equation
(x)x2-(5)x2 + 3(x)-3(5) + 9 = 0
2x-10+3x-15+9=0
collect like terms
2x+3x-10-15+9 =0
5x-10-6 =0
5x-16=0
5x=0+16
5x=16
divide both side by 5 we have
x=16/5
