            1
           ---- + 1
 1         a
---- = ------------
  f         1
           ----
             b

You did well in presenting the problem with your "over this and that" approach.  However, you didn't explain in words that your task was to solve this for f.

To solve for f, take the entire (1/f) fraction above and invert it:

       1/b
f = -------------
      (1/a) + 1

This could be simplified; the LCD is ab.  Give that a try.

On a fraction line 6 friends want to equally share 3 yards of yarn how much yarn does each friend get
densk [106]
0.5 because if you divide 3 and 6 yards it’s equal to 0.5yards. You divide the yard and the friends because they are sharing three yards. So, each friend gets 0.5 yard each.

What is the equation of the line that passes through (-3, -1) and has a slope of 2/5? Put your answer in slope-intercept form.
Zanzabum
Hi there!

The general formula of A line in slope-intercept form is the following:
y = mx + n

In this formula m represents the slope of the line. Therefore, we can conclude that m = 2/5.
y =  \frac{2}{5} x + n

We also know that the line passes through the point (-3, -1) and we can therefore substitute this coordinate into the formula of the line.
x = -3 and y = -1

- 1 =  \frac{2}{5}  \times  - 3 + n

Multiply first.
- 1 =  -  1\frac{1}{5}  + n

And finally add 1 1/5 to both sides of the equation.
\frac{1}{5}  = n

We can now switch sides.
n =  \frac{1}{5}

Now we've found our value of n, which we can substitute into the formula of our line. Hence, in slope-intercept form, we find the following:
y =  \frac{2}{5}  x  +  \frac{1}{5}

The driver of the bus filled the gas tank with gas by putting in 21 gallon. If the gas gauge was at five-eighths before she fill
vazorg [7]

Answer:

56 gallons

Step-by-step explanation:

When her gas tank is full, she has x gallons in the tank.

when she went to the gas station, she had (5/8) of x gallons of gas in her tank. she added 21 gallons into her tank, then she had x gallons in her tank.

(5/8)x + 21 = x

subtract x and 21 from both sides

(5/8)x - x = -21

factor out an x from the left side

x(5/8 - 1) = -21

simplify the parenthesis

x(-3/8) = -21

multiply both sides by -8/3

x= 56 gallons
