Option C

The solution of equation x^2+3x+4=0 is x= -3+- square root of -7/ 2

<u>Solution:</u>

Need to identify correct option for solution of the equation x^2 + 3x + 4 = 0.

Given equation is quadratic equation. We can find solution of this equation using quadratic formula.

According to quadratic formula for general equation a x^{2}+b x+c=0 solution of the equation is given by

x=\frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^{2}-4 a c}}{2 a}

The given equation is x^{2}+3 x+4=0 So in our case, a = 1, b = 3 and c = 4

On applying quadratic formula we get

\begin{array}{l}{x=\frac{-3 \pm \sqrt{3^{2}-4 \times 1 \times 4}}{2 \times 1}} \\\\ {x=\frac{-3 \pm \sqrt{9-16}}{2}} \\\\ {x=\frac{-3 \pm \sqrt{-7}}{2}} \\\\ {x=-\frac{3}{2} \pm \frac{(\sqrt{-1} \times \sqrt{7})}{2}}\end{array}

As i is square root of -1,

\Rightarrow x=-\frac{3}{2} \pm \frac{\sqrt{7}}{2} i

Hence correct option is C that is roots of quadratic equation x^{2}+3 x+4=0 \text { are }-\frac{3}{2} \pm \frac{\sqrt{7}}{2} i

The density of a certain material is such that it weighs 9 kilograms for every 7 cubic feet of volume. Express this density in p
Vadim26 [7]

Answer:

1.641× 10^-3 pounds/ cubic inch

Step-by-step explanation:

Density= mass / volume

Mass of the material= 9 kilograms

Volume= 7 cubic feet

Density= 9/7= 1.286 kg/ ft^3

Density= 1.286 kg/ ft^3

To Convert to pounds per inch

1 kg/ ft^3 = 0.00128 pound / cubic inch

1.286 kg/ ft^3 = X pounds/ cubic inch

X=( 1.286 × 0.00128)

= 0.0016407087 pounds/ cubic inch

= 1.641× 10^-3 pounds/ cubic inch

Hence,this density in pounds per inch is 1.641× 10^-3 pounds/ cubic inch

A flower takes 8 minutes to grow 5.2 inches. How many inches will the flower grow in 17 minutes?
svp [43]
11.05 inches.

EXPLANATION:

Firstly, lets see the unit rate for how many inches per minute.

5.2 divided by 8 is 0.65 inches every minute.

Now since there is 17 mins, simply do 0.65 inches per min x 17 mins.

11.05 inches.

Hope this helps!
