2. Based on the information given in the problem and knowing that both paid the same amount of money, you can write the following expression:

5(x-1.25)=4x

3. You must solve for x:

5x-6.25=4x\\ x=6.25

4. The total amount of money that Tanya and Tony paid was:

4x=4(6.25)=25 dollars
