Answer : option B

f(x) = 3x^3 + 10x^2 + 4x - 8

We have -2 in the given option

Lets use synthetic division and divide by -2

First write the coefficient of all the terms in f(x)

-2           3             10             4              -8

             0              -6            -8              8

         ------------------------------------------------------

           3               4             -4               0

We got remainder =0 , so -2 is one of the zero

Resultant  expression is 3x^2 + 4x -4

Lets use synthetic division and divide by -2 again

-2           3             4             -4

             0             -6             4

         ------------------------------------------------------

           3               -2             0

We got remainder =0 , so -2 is again a zero

Resultant  expression is 3x - 2

we set 3x -2 =0

Add 2 on both sides

3x = 2

Divide by 3 on both sides

x = \frac{2}{3}

So zeros are -2, \frac{2}{3}

Answer:

option b is correct

Step-by-step explanation:

In the options a, c and d we have to check if 2 is a root.

The coefficients of  f(x) = 3x^3 + 10x^2 + 4x - 8 are: 3, 10, 4 and -8.

The division of f(x) by (x-2) using synthetic division is:

2          3             10             4              -8

                           6             32              72

        ------------------------------------------------------

           3             16            36              64

The remainder is 64, so 2 is not root of f(x); if it was the remainder would be zero. This result makes options a, c and d incorrect.

The division of f(x) by (x+2) using synthetic division is:

-2          3             10             4              -8

                           -6             -8              8

        ------------------------------------------------------

            3               4            -4               0

The remainder is 0, so -2 is root of f(x).

The division of f(x) by (x-2/3) using synthetic division is:

2/3        3             10             4              -8

                           2               8               8

        ------------------------------------------------------

            3               12           12             0

The remainder is 0, so 2/3 is root of f(x). Then, option b is correct

How many of the numbers from 10 through 92 have the sum of their digits equal to a perfect square?
horrorfan [7]
All the numbers in this range can be written as 10d_1+d_0 with d_1\in\{1,2,\ldots,9\} and d_2\in\{0,1,\ldots,9\}. Construct a table like so (see attached; apparently the environment for constructing tables isn't supported on this site...)

so that each entry in the table corresponds to the sum of the tens digit (row) and the ones digit (column). Now, you want to find the numbers whose digits add to perfect squares, which occurs when the sum of the digits is either of 1, 4, 9, or 16. You'll notice that this happens along some diagonals.

For each number that occupies an entire diagonal in the table, it's easy to see that that number n shows up n times in the table, so there is one instance of 1, four of 4, and nine of 9. Meanwhile, 16 shows up only twice due to the constraints of the table.

So there are 16 instances of two digit numbers between 10 and 92 whose digits add to perfect squares.

Which of the following is the equation of the quadratic function below?
exis [7]

Answer:

A. y = x² - 9x + 18

Step-by-step explanation:

The key thing to look for in this graph is the <u>y-intercept</u> (where the graph will hit the y-axis).

We can't see exactly where y-intercept is, but we know it is a positive number.

In a standard form quadratic equation:

<em>y = ax² + bx + <u>c</u></em>

'<em>c</em>' tells you what the y-intercept is.

The choices with positive y-intercept are <u>A</u> and <u>B</u>.

Again, we can't see exactly where y-intercept is, but we know it is not 1.

y = x² - 9x + 18

has a positive y-intercept that is not 1,

thus the answer is A.
