Answer: Several study has been made to understand the history of the earth. It helps us in understanding the following things-

  1. to understand the dynamical and complex processes that undergoes in the earth.
  2. to understand how the universe and the solar system started from a single point, called the singularity.
  3. to understand the evolutionary trend of the earth including the plant and animal species.
  4. to understand the various factors that controls the climatic condition on earth.
  5. to predict what kind of scenerio will take place after millions of years from now.
