Why is far less energy available to top predators than to first level consumers in a food web?

Biology
1 answer:
Sedaia [141]3 years ago
8 0

Answer and Explanation:

Most of the food eaten by herbivores(primary consumers) passes through the digestive tract as undigested matter that is removed as faeces. Most of the absorbed food materials are used in respiration to release energy. Only a small proportion of the consumed food is incorporated into tissues of the consumer while the rest is lost through excretion. Only the food incorporated into the tissues can be passed on the top predators and secondary consumers.

In an experiment, what is the factor that is tested?
Marta_Voda [28]

In an experiment the HYPOTHESIS is tested. The hypothesis is the assumption, that you make about something. Example would be, you believe (hypothesize) that the baking soda will react faster in vinegar than in water. You then test it out (or preform and experiment) to see if your hypothesis is correct or wrong.
