Each set of prices can be described by a linear function. In this case, Company A would be y = 5 + .5x, where y is the fare and x is the number of miles driven. Similarly, Company B would b y = 10 + .1x. The definition of intersection tells us that two lines interstect only at that point where their x and y coordinates are identical, which means, of course, that their y coordinates will be identical. So to find the point of intersection we can examine the point where the y coordinates are the same. Which is to say, where 5 + .5x = 10 + .1x. We can simplify this to .5x - .1x = 10 - 5, then .4x = 5, and finally, x = (5/.4) = 12.5. In other words, the fares will be equal when the miles driven is 12.5

Company A: 5$+0.5$*x miles
Company B: 10$+0.1$*x miles
5+0.5x=10+0.1x
0.5x-0.1x=10-5
0.4x=5, x=5/0.4
x=12.5miles.
For 12.5 miles driven, coast of a cab ride will be the same for both companies.

Given: △KLM, LM=20 3
egoroff_w [7]

Split the triangle into a 30-60-90 triangle. Since you have LM from that triangle, you can figure out the other sides. Then, using the leg from that triangle, the one next to it is a 45-45-90 triangle, meaning it's isosceles.

KM = 30 + 10√3

KL = 10√6

(sorry i'm not too sure if my "reasons" for statement/reason is correct)
