Answer:

The correct answer is option d) nutrients absorption.

Explanation:

The stomach has several important functions. Mechanically digestion involves the contraction of muscles of the stomach and churning of the food to enhance digestion. The secretion of HCl and enzymes is an important role of the stomach for digestion.

Nutrient absorption is a major function of the intestine specifically small intestine for nutrient absorption.

Thus, the correct answer is d) nutrients absorption.

The following is not a major activity of the stomach: D) nutrient absorption

Further explanation

Which of the following is not a major activity of the stomach?

 • A) mechanical digestion
 • B) HCl secretion
 • C) mucus secretion
 • D) nutrient absorption
 • E) enzyme secretion

The stomach is a muscular organ located on the left side of the upper abdomen. The stomach has 3 main functions such as temporary storage for food, that passes from the esophagus to the stomach where it is held for 2 hours or longer. mixing and breakdown of food by contraction and relaxation of the muscle layers in the stomach, also the digestion of food.

The major activities by stomach involves mechanical digestion, HCl secretion, mucus secretion and enzyme secretions. Whereas the nutrient absorption is carried out in the small intestine.

Mechanical digestion involves physically breaking the food into smaller pieces. While in the HCl secretion, the main constituent of gastric acid is hydrochloric acid which is produced by parietal cells (also called oxyntic cells) in the gastric glands in the stomach. For mucus secretion, the consumption of spicy foods can spark excess mucus production in the nasal passages. Besides, for enzyme secretion, the enzymes that are secreted in the stomach are gastric enzymes

Nutrients are foods essential compounds to life and health, providing us with energy to regulate chemical processes. Six major nutrients are Carbohydrates (CHO), Lipids (fats), Proteins, Vitamins, Minerals, Water

C) despite the similarities, methylene chloride is superior to ethylene chloride as an extraction solvent. why?
mario62 [17]

Despite the similarities, methylene chloride (or dichloromethane) is superior to ethylene chloride as an extraction solvent because the boiling point of methylene chloride is lower than the boiling point of ethylene chloride, which allows it to be removed more easily.

Which substance can enter a cell by diffusion
lara [203]
Answer;
The substance that can enter a cell by diffusion without having to be digested is water.

Explanation;
Diffusion involves the movement of molecules from a region of high concentration to a region of low concentration, down a concentration gradient.
Water is able to diffuse through the cell membrane without being digested since it has small molecules.
One property of cell membrane is semi-permeability; it selectively allows material to enter or leave the cell. Large molecules such as starch , fat and proteins, can not enter the cell due to their size and will need to be digested to small molecules for the to gain access to the cell.
