A major revolt occurred in 1905 after the creation of radical factions/political parties. The Tsar (ruler) was not able to keep control or repair the sluggish economy. In both, 1905 and 1914 Russia found itself at war, which both led to embarrassing defeats, revolution, and the overthrow of the Tsar.
