Dysfluency or post-reinforcement pauses may occur when a student is on a FI and FR schedule of reinforcement. FR schedule stands for <span>Fixed-ratio schedule, which describes when behavior is reinforced when it has occurred a fixed number of times.</span>
Most common this pauses occur from fatigue or are a way of escaping the aversive aspects of the schedule.
The situation in which we take a "break" before setting to work is an example of post-reinforcement pause.
