Located on the north coast of Egypt, in the Mediterranean Sea, Alexandria was founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BCE. It was the place of the famous Pharo(lighthouse) of Alexandria, considered one of the "7 Wonders" of the ancient world. It was a great city known as the intellectual center for science and medicine for the great amount of knowledge found in the Great Library of Alexandria, located in the Temple of Serapis, the many scholars that existed at the time and the trade activities in the port of Alexandria.
