IgorC [24]

Answer:

Explained below.

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the data provided.

(a)

Compute the mean of the data in seconds as follows:

Mean =AVERAGE(array)

         = 225.280 seconds

(b)

Compute the median of the data in seconds as follows:

Median =QUARTILE.EXC(array,2)

            = 229 seconds

(c)

Compute the variance of the data in seconds as follows:

Variance =VAR.S(array)

              = 1148.043 seconds

(d)

Compute the standard deviation of the data in seconds as follows:

Standard deviation =STDEV.S(F2:F26)

                              = 33.883 seconds.

(e)

Compute the median of the data in minutes as follows:

Median =QUARTILE.EXC(array,2)

            = 3.755 minutes.

(f)

Compute the median of the data in minutes as follows:

Median =QUARTILE.EXC(array,2)

            = 3.817 minutes

(g)

Compute the variance of the data in minutes as follows:

Variance =VAR.S(array)

              = 0.319 minutes

(h)

Compute the standard deviation of the data in minutes as follows:

The height of a triangle is 2 feet greater than the base. The area of the triangle is 199.5 square feet. Find the length of the
suter [353]

Answer:

  • base: 19 ft
  • height: 21 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

The area of a triangle is related to the base and height by ...

  A = 1/2bh

Filling in the given information, we can find the base from ...

  199.5 = (1/2)(b)(b+2)

  399 = b^2 +2b . . . . multiply by 2

  400 = (b +1)^2 . . . . add 1 to complete the square

  20 = b +1 . . . . . . . . take the positive square root

  19 = b . . . . . . . . . . . subtract 1

  h = b+2 = 21

The base of the triangle is 19 feet and the height is 21 feet.
