Answer: D

In the story, Ali dresses up in rags and begs for money to buy ingredients at the market. The ingredients are to be used for a stew that will restore his father's health. However, people are cruel and rude to him when he begs. They assume he is lying in order to get money. They tell him:

"A dying father! There's a new one! What lies these pigs invent to take our gold!"

The behaviour is similar to Ali's attitude towards the beggar that lives outside his house. The experience teaches him a lesson on kindness and justice.

What interpretations can you make after reading about the trade treaty that China signed and reviewing the cartoon showing forei
enyata [817]

China did not want to be coerced into commercial ties with other nations, nor did it want to do business in accordance with the laws of other nations. Instead,

China desired to conduct commerce with other nations on its own terms. In spite of this, the Chinese government and military were not strong enough to prevent interference and control from other sources.

This is further explained below.

What is commerce?

Generally, China did not want to be pressured into any kind of economic connections with other countries, nor did it want to do business in line with the rules of other countries.

Rather, China preferred to trade with other countries on its own terms. However, the Chinese government and military were not robust enough to fend against outside intervention and control.

In conclusion, China desired to deal with other nations on its own terms, rather than being coerced into commercial ties or subject to foreign norms. Regardless, China's government and military were too weak to escape international influence and control.

What is the difference between a selective college and an open college? What accomplishments are needed to be admitted to each?
zepelin [54]

An open college is usually open admissions. That means that so long as you have a HS diploma or GED, you will get in. They let in everyone who applies, basically.

A selective college gets so many applicants that they have to screen out those who don't meet certain standards, so for a selective college, you'd need to be in a certain GPA level and/or have an SAT or ACT score that falls into a certain range to get in. They admit only a certain percentage of those who apply.
