The Judiciary Act of 1789 provided for a Supreme Court made up of a Chief Justice and five associate justices is a true statement. This was written in Article III which defines much of the judiciary's position in the American government. It explicitly states that "judicial power of the United States shall be vested in one Supreme Court and such inferior courts" so the Supreme Court is the only court recognized by the Constitution, with one Chief justice and five associate justices.

Why might rome have felt a total destruction of carthage was necessary and justified?
BlackZzzverrR [31]
Romans believed that as long as Carthage existed it would always pose a threat because if you defeat them and don't destroy them they will just rise again and want to defeat Rome again so they decided that it was necessary to completely wipe them off the face of Earth, which is what happened in the end, as you can see since there's no Carthage any more.

How did South Carolina respond to the attempt by Britain to gain more control over its colonies?
Vera_Pavlovna [14]

The correct answer is D. During the 1760s, the British government adopted a series of tax policies in order to collect revenue to offset the War of France and Indian's costs.

As a consequence of the above, discontent was generated in most of the population which was loyal to the British. After the institution of these laws, merchants joined 11 other colonies to organize boycotts against the purchase of British products.
