<u>Solution: </u>

Let us assume that the three decimals are x, y and z.

As given in the problem one of the decimal z = 0.34

The sum of the three decimal is 2

So,  x +y +z = 2

x + y +0.34 =2 (substituting the value of z)

x + y = 2 - 0.34

x + y = 1.66

Now as there is no rule for the other two decimals, so we can take any two decimals whose sum is 1.66

So the values can be (1.01, 0.65) or (1.06, 0.6) or (0.83, 0.83) etc.

Identify the transformation of the function f(x)=|x| by observing the equation of the function g(x)=|x+3|
Alla [95]

Answer:

a horizontal translation by 3 units left

Step-by-step explanation:

f(x)= |x|

we are given with absolute function f(x)

g(x)  = |x+3|

To get g(x) from f(x) , 3 is added with x

If any number is added with x  then the graph of the function move to the left

Here 3 is added with x, so the graph of f(x) moves 3 units left to get g(x)

So there will be a horizontal translation by 3 units

What is the y-value of the vertex of the function f(x)=-(x-3)(x+11)
lutik1710 [3]

so, this is a quadratic equation, meaning two solutions, and we have a factored form of it, meaning you can get the solutions by simply zeroing out the f(x).

\bf \stackrel{f(x)}{0}=-(x-3)(x+11)\implies 0=(x-3)(x+11)\implies x= \begin{cases} 3\\ -11 \end{cases} \\\\\\ \boxed{-11}\stackrel{\textit{\large 7 units}}{\rule[0.35em]{10em}{0.25pt}}-4\stackrel{\textit{\large 7 units}}{\rule[0.35em]{10em}{0.25pt}}\boxed{3}

so the zeros/solutions are at x = 3 and x = -11, now, bearing in mind the vertex will be half-way between those two, checking the number line, that midpoint will be at x = -4, so the vertex is right there, well, what's f(x) when x = -4?

\bf f(-4)=-(-4-3)(-4+11)\implies f(-4)=7(7)\implies f(-4)=49 \\\\[-0.35em] \rule{34em}{0.25pt}\\\\ ~\hfill \stackrel{vertex}{(-4~~,~~49)}~\hfill
