Our three consecutive integers can be represented as

X → <em>first integer</em>

X + 1 → <em>second integer</em>

X + 2 → <em>third integer</em>

If the sum of our three consecutive integers is 15, our equation will read...

X + X + 1 + X + 2 = 15

Now, we can simplify on the left. Once we simplify, our equation will now read

3x + 3 = 15

      -3    -3   ← subtract 3 from both sides

       3x = 12  ← divide both sides by 3

        X = 4

X → first integer 4

X + 1 → second integer 5

X + 2 → third integer 6

Therefore, the 3 consecutive integers are 4, 5, and 6.

Consecutive integers are 1 apart
they are
x,x+1,x+2
add to 15
x+x+1+x+2=15
3x+3=15
minus 3 both sides
3x=12
divide both sides by 3
x=4
x+1=5
x+2=6

they are 4,5,6

Quick algebra 1 question for 10 points!
Elodia [21]

y = mx + n

m =  \frac{y - y}{x - x}  =  \frac{5 - ( - 1)}{ - 5 - ( - 3)}  =  \frac{6}{ - 2}  =  - 3

y =  - 3x + n \\

<h3>Since both ( -3 , -1 ) and ( -5 , 5 ) pass through the line, they both satisfy its equation. Substitute any point in the new equation, I will choose ( -5 , 5 )</h3>

5 =  - 3( - 5) + n \\ n = 5 - 15 =  - 10

y =  - 3x - 10
