Factor completely by grouping 3u^2+8u-3

Mathematics

3u^2+8u-3
with grouping, we have to find 2 numbers which add up to 8 and multiply to 3*(-3)= -9.
testing, we find that 9 and -1 add up to 8 and multiply to -9.
so now we can write the original equation as
3u^2-u+9u-3
you can factor the terms in pairs:
u(3u-1)+3(3u-1)=
(u+3)(3u-1)

Make x the subject of m= n + x/p
Studentka2010 [4]

Answer:

x = m × p - n

Step-by-step explanation:

m = n +  \frac{x}{p}

We can first multiply both sides by <em>p</em><em>.</em>

<em>m \times p = n + x</em>

And now we only have <em>n</em> left with <em>x</em>, so we subtract <em>n</em><em> </em>on both sides.

m \times p  - n = x \\or \\  x = m \times p - n

A triangle has side lengths of (5n+3p)(5n+3p) centimeters, (9n+8q)(9n+8q) centimeters, and (6q+9p)(6q+9p) centimeters. Which exp
tatuchka [14]

The expression that represents the perimeter of the given triangle in centimeters is;  14n + 10p + 14q

<h3>What is the perimeter of the triangle?</h3>

We are given the  side lengths of the triangle as;

5n + p; 9n + 8q; 6q + 9p

Now, the formula for perimeter of a triangle is;

Perimeter = a + b + c

where a, b and c are side lengths of the triangle. Thus;

Perimeter = 5n + p + 9n + 8q + 6q + 9p

Perimeter = 14n + 10p + 14q

In conclusion, we can sa that the perimeter of the given triangle is 14n + 10p + 14q.

Suppose that 15% of people dont show up for a flight, and suppose that their decisions are independent. how many tickets can you
geniusboy [140]

Answer: <em><u>157 tickets </u></em>

Explanation:

The people not showing up for the flight can be treated as from Binomial distribution.

The binomial distribution B(n, p) is approximately close to the normal i.e. N(np, np(1 − p))  for large 'n' and for 'p' and neither too close to 0 nor 1 .

Now, Let us assume 'n' = n

and we are given

p=0.15

So now B(n,0.15n) follows Normal distribution

u=n

\sigma^{2} = 0.15n

We have to calculate P(X<144) with 99% accuracy

P(X<144) = P(Z<z)

where;

z= (144-\bar{X})\div \sigma

z score for 99% is 2.33

i.e.

(144-\bar{X})\div \sigma = (144-n)/\sqrt{np} = 2.33\\\ (144-n)^{2} = \ np*2.33^{2}\\\ 20736 +n^{2} - 288n = 0.15n*5.43\\\ n^{2} - 288.81n + 20736=0

solving this we will get one root nearly equal to 157 and other root as 133

<u><em>Hence the answer is 157.</em></u>

2- En una habitación cuadrada de 4 m de lado se coloca una alfombra circular de 3 m de diámetro. ¿Cuál es la superficie cubierta
dezoksy [38]

Answer:

7.065 m ^ 2

8.935 m ^ 2

Step-by-step explanation:

The first thing is to calculate the surface of each one, that is, the area

For the room that is square, each side measures 4m, therefore:

As = 4 * 4 = 16 m ^ 2

The area of the carpet is that of a circle, that its area is the number pi times the radius squared, we know that the radius is half the diameter, therefore r = 3/2 = 1.5 m

replacing in the area formula

Ac = pi * r ^ 2 = 3.14 * 1.5 ^ 2

Ac = 7.065 m ^ 2

In other words, the area covered by the carpet is 7,065 m ^ 2 and the area not covered would be the subtraction between the area of the room minus the area of the carpet, that is:

16 m ^ 2 - 7.065 m ^ 2 = 8.935 m ^ 2

8.935 m ^ 2 would be the area that the carpet does not subside.
