Let

x------> hours worked by Sara last week

y------> hours worked by Joan last week

z------> hours worked by Erin last week

we know that

x=28 hours ------> equation 1

y=x-6-----> equation 2

substitute the value of x in equation 2

y=28-6=22 hours

z=y/2------> equation 3

substitute the value of y in the equation 3

z=22/2=11 hours

<u>the answer is</u>

Sara worked 28 hours last week

Joan worked 22 hours last week

Erin worked 11 hours last week

Answer:

Sara worked for 28 hours last week.

Joan worked for 22 hours last week.

Erwin worked for 11 hours last week.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :

Sara worked 28 hours last week.

Joan worked 6 hours less than Sara

Erin worked half as many hours as Joan.

To Find : How many hours did Sara, Joan, and Erin work last week?

Solution :

Since Sara worked for 28 hours last week .

And Joan worked for 6 hours less than Sara.

Then Joan worked for hours = 28-6 = 22 hours

Now we are also given that Erin worked for  half as many hours as Joan

So, Erin worked for hours = Joan hours /2 = 22/2 = 11 hours.

Thus, Sara worked for 28 hours last week.

Joan worked for 22 hours last week.

Erwin worked for 11 hours last week.

Pavel [41]

If the third term is 8, and it is 2 greater than the previous term, the second term must be 6 and the first term must be 4. To find the fourth and fifth term, add 2 to 8 to get 10, then add 2 to 10 to get 12. The first five terms in the sequence are 4, 6, 8, 10, 12.

efore the overtime rule in a football league was changed, among 400 overtime games, 194 were won by the team that won the coin
jeyben [28]

Answer:

The coin toss does not appear to be  fair

Step-by-step explanation:

 From the question we are told that

     The  sample size is  n  =  400

      The number of game won by team that won the coin toss at the beginning of overtime  x = 194

     The level of significance is  \alpha = 0.10

The population proportion  is  evaluated as

                  p  =  \frac{194}{400}

                 p  =  0.485

Since the population proportion is  0.485 \approx 0.5 which implies that the coin toss is  fair then

The Null hypothesis is

         H_o  :  p = 0.485

and  The Alternative hypothesis is

        H_a  :  p \ne  0.485

The test statistics is evaluated as follows

         t  = \frac{[x  + p] - [\frac{n}{2} ]}{\frac{\sqrt{n} }{2} }

substituting values

         t  = \frac{[194  + 0.485] - [\frac{400}{2} ]}{\frac{\sqrt{400} }{2} }

         t  = -0.5515

=>     |t| =  0.5515

now the critical value of  \alpha for a two tail test(it is two tailed because we are test whether the critical value is  less than or greater than the test statistics ) is

         t_{\alpha } = 1.645

This is usually found from the critical value table

     Now comparing the critical values and the calculated test statistics we see that the critical value is greater than the test statistics hence the Null hypothesis is  rejected

   This  means that the coin toss is not fair
