(50 Points) Can someone explain this math problem to me?

Mathematics

Given problem is:

(7.14\times10^{10})+(3.21\times10^{10})

step by step solution:

we will add similar elements.

10^{10}(7.14+3.21)

=10^{10} (10.35)

Now converting 10^{10} in decimal form we get 10000000000 (10 zeroes)

Now multiplying 10.35 with 10000000000 we get 103500000000 (8 zeroes)

or we can change it to exponential form like 1.035\times10^{11}

11 because when you count from the extreme right end '0' and come counting to the left side, you skip 11 numbers till you reach the first number '1'. And when you put a decimal after 1st number, so the last '0' is at the 11th place, that is why it is 10^{11} .

The missing exponent is -3. The exponent on the x variable only applies to x, so with that in mind, only x is in the denominator. This means that its exponent needs to be a negative. A negative exponent flips its base to the reciprocal making x into 1/x. When multiplying only an exponent, you multiply the two exponents. For example: (y^4)^2 = y^8. 2 times 3 is 6.

The missing exponent is -3. A negative exponent flips the base to its reciprocal making 2x/3 into 3/2x, and 3^3 is 27. The same applies to 2x. (2x)^3 is 8x^3.

The other one’s missing exponent is 2. As, mention before, a negative exponent results in flipping the base to its reciprocal making 1/3 into 3. 3^3 is 27. You can figure out which exponent make 3 into 9 which is 2.
Hope this helped.

saw5 [17]

Answer: 2.66 hours

Step-by-step explanation:

Shawana can paint a fence in 8hours which means in one hour she can paint 1/8 of a fence.

Kevin can paint the same fence in 4 hours, so in one hour he can paint 1/4 of the fence.

Together in 1 hour they can paint 1/8 + 1/4 = 3/8

Total hours for painting is 3/8 or 2.66 hours

A company charting its profits notices that the relationship between the number of units sold, x, and the profit, P, is linear.
scoundrel [369]

Answer:

P(x) = 58x - 8,500

Step-by-step explanation:

The profit function can be modeled based on the two given points of format (P, x) that are ($1360, 170) and ($4260, 220). The slope of the function is:

m=\frac{4,260-1,360}{220-170}\\ m=58

Applying the general form of a linear equation, the profit function is:

P-P_0 = m*(x-x_0)\\P - 1,360=58*(x-170)\\P(x) = 58x -8,500

The profit as a function of units sold is P(x) = 58x - 8,500.
