Called solar system because Sun is biggest and heaviest

Solar means sun  planets revolve about (travel in circles around) the sun  path a planet travels is called its orbit  earth is the 3rd closest planet to the sun  all the planets go around in the same direction (like clockwise or counterclockwise), in roughly the same plane, but at different speeds  planets close to sun move fast, far out move slower  closer a planet is to the sun, the hotter it is, more or less.

The above is only approximately correct scientifically, but could be good enough for grade school.  Look up "solar system" in wikipedia for more details and accuracy.

Altering protein structure
scoray [572]

The alteration in the protein structures can take place due to many reason. Once, the structure of the protein is altered, it cannot perform its function, as it cannot bind to the site for which it is designated.

Most of the biological processes use proteins in their completion. In case, the protein cannot perform its function, the metabolic process associated with that particular protein may stop and cause severe illness.

The heat can cause the denaturation of the proteins. The proteins are made up of amino acid sequences, the heat can break the peptide bond present between the amino acids present in protein, which can result in alteration of protein.

Hence, the correct answer is option (d). all of them are correct.

Which pair of terms most accurately describes life history traits for a stable population of wolves? A. semelparous; r -selected
Lera25 [3.4K]

The correct option is (D) iteroparous; K -selected

Iteroparous organisms are the organisms that reproduce multiple times.

<h3>What is Semelparity and Iteroparity?</h3>
  • Semelparity and iteroparity are the two different reproductive strategies available to living beings.
  • Iteroparous species have multiple reproductive cycles throughout their lifetimes, while semelparous species have just one reproductive cycle before they die.
  • Death that occurs after reproduction is part of a bigger strategy in really semelparous animals that also entails maximizing reproduction at the expense of future survival.
  • There will always be some iteroparous individuals who die between their first and second reproductive episodes, but unless they exhibit symptoms of a state of programmed death after reproduction, they are not termed semelparous.

Select the correct statement about plant life cycles.
vagabundo [1.1K]

The right answer is A.

Meiosis is an important process in many organisms:

In angiosperms, plants with flowers, meiosis occurs for the production of cells of pollen grains (gametes, haploid cells).

In animals, meiosis is important because it is the mechanism of gametogenesis that produces eggs (oogenesis) and sperm (spermatogenesis).

In the fungi, meiosis produces spores, which by mitosis will give a haploid generation.
