First you have to find 1/3 of the marbles. That means in the twelve marvels she has, there are three even groups. Divide twelve by three and you get four. So if each group is four, it is simple from here on out. If she started out with twelve and she lost 1/3 of them(4) it would be 12-4. You know this because lost is another for for subtract. 12-4=8. She has 8 marbles left.

Answer: Jacqueline has 8 marbles left.

Step-by-step explanation: Its pretty much just asking you how much marbles she has left if she lost 1/3. So you would find 1/3 of 12 which is 4(this is how much marbles she lost but you are trying to figure out how much she has left). So she started with 12, she lost 4, so 12-4 = 8. *To find 1/3 of 12 you can make boxes and demonstrate/shade 1/3 of 12 or you can  just do 1/3 and 12/1 cross simplify which would be divided 3 by 3 and divided 12 by 3 so you would get 1/1 and 4/1 which when multiplied would be 4/1 which=4. Hope this helped!

Answer:

The value of the expression given is:

  • 4

Step-by-step explanation:

First, you must divide the expression in three, and to the final, you can multiply it:

  1. [(3^8)*(2^(-5))*(9^0)]^(-2)
  2. [(2^(-2))/(3^3)]^4
  3. 3^28

Now, we can solve each part one by one:

<em>First part. </em>

  • 3^8 = 6561
  • 2^(-5) = 0.03125
  • 9^0 = 1 (Whatever number elevated to 0, its value is 1)
  • (6561 * 0,03125 * 1) = 205.03125

And we elevate this to -2:

  • 205.03125^-2 = 2<u>.378810688*10^(-5)</u> or <u>0.00002378810688 </u>

<em>Second part. </em>

  • 2^(-2) = 0.25
  • 3^3 = 27
  • 0.25 / 27 = 9.259259259 * 10^(-3) or 0.00925925925925

And we elevate this to 4:

  • 0.00925925925925^4 = <u>7.350298528 * 10^(-9)</u> or <u>0.000000007350298528 </u>

<em>Third Part. </em>

  • 3^28 = <u>2.287679245 * 10^13</u> or <u>22876792450000</u>

At last, we multiply all the results obtained:

  • 0.00002378810688 * 0.000000007350298528 * 22876792450000 = <u>3.999999999999999999</u> approximately <u>4</u>

<u><em>We approximate the value because the difference to 4 is minimal, which could be obtained if we use all the decimals in each result</em></u>.

How to solve which fraction is larger 10/13 or 11/14 or 14/15 or 17/18
alexandr402 [8]
To solve these type of problem you have to make the denominator the same or use the claculator.

let us do this problem by making the denominator the same.

\frac{10}{13} \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \frac{11}{14} \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \frac{14}{15}  \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \frac{17}{18} \\\\ \frac{10}{13}\times \frac{3780}{3780} \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \frac{11}{14} \times \frac{3510}{3510} \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \frac{14}{15} \times \frac{3276}{3276} \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \frac{17}{18} \times \frac{2730}{2730}

\frac{37800}{49140} \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \    \frac{38610}{49140}  \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \    \frac{45864}{49140}  \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \    \frac{46410}{49140}

So, now. the one with the largest numerator is the largest fraction

In this case, \frac{46410}{49140} is the largest which is equal to \frac{17}{18}.

So, the largest fraction is \frac{17}{18}.

Identify the percent of change as an increase or a decrease. 4/5 to 3/5
vovikov84 [41]

Answer:

Decrease

Step-by-step explanation:

So, I encourage you to grab a calculator and see for yourself

Put in the function: 4/5 into a standard calculator. You will see that it will come out to .8

Put in the function: 3/5 into a standard calculator. You will see that it will come out to .6

.6 is less than .8, just as 3/5 is less than 4/5.

Another analogy that can be used is seeing the fraction as a real-life object.

Let's say that you make two pies. You cut the pie evenly into five slices. You set them on the table and leave them for whoever wants to eat them. You see that Pie 1 has two slices missing (3/5) and that Pie 2 has one slice missing. (4/5)

3 out of 5 slices are left of Pie 1.

4 out of 5 slices are left of Pie 2.

Pie 1 has less than Pie 2 does.

Hope this has helped!

Elena L [17]

Answer:

(a) 142 km trip requires 15.16 Liters of Gasoline

(b) The money spent is 69.34 euros or $87.37.

(c) The average speed of sprinter is 34.45 km/h.

(d) 4 lb of candy contains 0.559 kg of dietary fat.

Step-by-step explanation:

(a)

Given that;

Mileage = 22 mi/gal

Converting it to km/L

Mileage = (22 mi/gal)(1 gal/3.78 L)(1 km/0.6214 mi)

Mileage = 9.36 km/L

Now, the gasoline required for 142 km trip:

Gasoline Required = (Length of trip)/(Mileage)

Gasoline Required = (142 km)/(9.36 km/L)

<u>Gasoline Required = 15.16 L</u>

(b)

Given that;

Mileage = 30 mi/gal

Converting it to km/L

Mileage = (30 mi/gal)(1 gal/3.78 L)(1 km/0.6214 mi)

Mileage = 12.77 km/L

Now, the gasoline required for 142 km trip:

Gasoline Required = (Length of trip)/(Mileage)

Gasoline Required = (115 km/day)(7 days/week)/(12.77 km/L)

Gasoline Required = 63 L/week

Now, we find the cost:

Weekly Cost = (Gasoline Required)(Unit Cost)

Weekly Cost = (63 L/week)(1.1 euros/L)

<u>Weekly Cost = 69.34 euros/week = $87.37</u>

since, 1 euro = $1.26

(c)

Average Speed = (Distance Travelled)/(Time Taken)

Average Speed = 200 m/20.9 s

Average Speed = (9.57 m/s)(3600 s/1 h)(1  km/ 1000 m)

<u>Average Speed = 34.45 km/h</u>

(d)

22.7 g piece contains = 7 g dietary fat

(22.7 g)(1 lb/453.592 g) piece contains = (7 g)(1 kg/1000 g) dietary fat

0.05 lb piece contains = 0.007 kg dietary fat

1 lb piece contains = (0.007/0.05) kg dietary fat

4 lb piece contains = 4(0.007/0.05) kg dietary fat

<u>4 lb piece contains = 0.559 kg dietary fat</u>

The water level as a river recedes after a flood is measured at regular intervals, and its height relative to normal, in inches,
Tems11 [23]

Answer:

<em>-26</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the sequence:

16, 9, 2, –5, ...,

To find:

7th measurement, if the above sequence continues:

Solution:

Let us examine the given sequence first:

First term is 16

Second term = 9

Third term = 2

Fourth term = -5

Difference between 2nd and 1st term = 9 - 16 = -7

Difference between 3rd and 2nd term = 2 - 9 = -7

Difference between 4th and 3rd term = -5 - 2 = -7

We can see that there is a common difference of -7 between each term.

That means, the sequence is in Arithmetic Progression.

whose first term, a=16

Common difference, d=-7

To find:

7th term i.e. a_7=?

Solution:

Formula for nth term of an Arithmetic Progression is given as:

a_n=a+(n-1)d

Let us put n=7

a_7=16+(7-1)\times (-7)\\\Rightarrow a_7=16+6\times (-7)\\\Rightarrow a_7=16-42\\\Rightarrow \bold{a_7=-26}

7th measurement will be <em>-26.</em>
