On the 26th of July 1945 , the allies made up of United States, China and United Kigdom, issued the Postdam declaration towards Japan as an ultimatum to either surrender or suffer the consequences.

It received the name "Postdam Declaration due to the fact that Postdam was the German city where the Allied leaders gather in order to discuss about it.

So, the allies warned Japan to surrender or suffer the consequences.
