4x+1 = 2x+23

4x = 2x+22

2x = 22

x = 22/2 = 11

x = 11

3x-8 = 3(11)-8 = 33-8 = 25

BC=25

Answer:

Value of BC is 25 units.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: AC = 2x+23 units , AB = 4x+1 units and BC = 3x-8 units.

Isosceles triangle states that a triangle with two congruent sides and congruent base angles.[Congruent means equal]

Since, in the given triangle ABC  \angle B = \angle C i.e, base angles are equal.

By definition of isosceles triangle,

⇒ΔABC is an isosceles triangle

AB = AC

4x + 1 = 2x + 23

Subtract 2x from both sides we get;

4x + 1 -2x = 2x + 23 -2x

Simplify:

2x + 1= 23

Subtract 1 from both sides we get;

2x +1 -1 = 23-1

Simplify:

2x = 22

Divide both sides by 2 we get;

x = 11

BC = 3x -8 = 3(11) - 8 = 33 -8 = 25 units

Therefore, the value of side BC is, 25 units.

If f(x) = 2x2 5x, find f(3b).
frez [133]
F(x) = 2x^2 + 5x
f(3b) = 2(3b)^2 + 5(3b) = 2(9b^2) + 15b = 18b^2 + 15b

What is the gradient?
notsponge [240]

Answer:

Gradient = 2

Step-by-step explanation:

Gradient of a line = Slope of the line

Since, slope of a line passing through two points (x_1, y_1) and (x_2,y_2) is given by,

Slope = \frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

Given line in the graph passes through two points (1, 0) and (2, 2)

Therefore, slope or gradient of the line = \frac{2-0}{2-1}

                                                                  = 2

Gradient = 2 will be the answer.

Find x [Angles and Segment]
Alex_Xolod [135]

Answer:

  8.3 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

The product of lengths to the near and far point of intersection with the circle is the same in all cases:

  (7 cm)(7 cm) = (y)(11 cm +y) = (4 cm)(4 cm +x)

Since we're only interested in x, we can divide by 4 and subtract 4:

  49 cm² = (4 cm)(4 cm +x)

  (49/4) cm = 4 cm +x . . . . . . divide by 4 cm

  8.25 cm = x . . . . . . . . . . . . . subtract 4 cm

To the nearest tenth, x = 8.3 cm.

_____

For a tangent segment, the two points of intersection with the circle are the same point, so the product of lengths is the square of the length.

___

The angles depend on the size of the circle, which is not given.
