Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Points are said to be collinear if they all lie on a line .

Let points L , M, N be collinear i.e they all lie on a line .

Consider the following figure :

Given :

LN = 54 units

LM = 31 units

To find : MN

Solution :

Clearly we can see LM + MN and LN coincides each other and we know that two things which coincide are equal to each other .

Therefore , LM + MN = LN

31 + MN = 54

On transposing 31 to RHS , we get MN = 54-31 = 23 units

{ Transposition is basically a process of taking one number from side to the other with the opposite operation }

I’ll assume that the three points are colinear in the consecutive order L, M, N.
Therefore, LN would be the whole line, and LM would be part. Subtracting 31 (LM) from the whole 54 (LN) gives us a value of 23 for MN.

olchik [2.2K]
If we let p and t be the masses of the paper and textbook, respectively, the equations that would best represent the given in this item are:
      (1)       20p + 9t = 44.4
      (2)       (20 + 5)p + (9 + 1)t = 51

The values of p and t from the equation are 0.6 and 3.6, respectively. Thus, each paperback weighs 0.6 pounds and each textbook weighs 3.6 pounds.

Convert 53 yards per hour into inches per day
marin [14]

1 yard = 36 inches.

53 yards per hour x 36 inches per yard = 1908 inches per hour.

1 day = 24 hours.

1908 inches per hour x 24 hours = 45,792 inches per day.

Convert -3pi/10 to degrees
ipn [44]

we know there are 180° in π radians, how many degrees then in -3π/10 radians?

\bf \begin{array}{ccll} degrees&radians\\ \cline{1-2} 180&\pi \\\\ x&-\frac{3\pi }{10} \end{array}\implies \cfrac{180}{x}=\cfrac{\pi }{~~-\frac{3\pi }{10}~~}\implies \cfrac{180}{x}=\cfrac{\frac{\pi}{1} }{~~-\frac{3\pi }{10}~~} \\\\\\ \cfrac{180}{x}=\cfrac{\pi }{1}\cdot \cfrac{10}{-3\pi }\implies \cfrac{180}{x}=-\cfrac{10}{3}\implies 540=-10x\implies \cfrac{540}{-10}=x \\\\[-0.35em] \rule{34em}{0.25pt}\\\\ ~\hfill -54=x~\hfill

A rectangle is 13 centimeters wide and 18 centimeters long. how long is its diagonal
Naddika [18.5K]
You have to use the Pythagorean theorem a squared plus b squared is c squared so 13 squared plus 18 squared equals c squared. 13x13=169 18x18=324 169+324=493 so c squared is 493 to get c you square root 493 which equals 22.2 so the diagonal, c, is 22.2 centimeters long
