Read the excerpt from a history of the world in 100 objects. the slit drum began its life in central africa, in the region where

sudan and the congo share a frontier, and it would have been part of the court orchestra of a powerful chief... the flanks of the drum have been carved to different thicknesses, so that a skilled drummer with a traditional drumstick can produce at least two tones and as many as four distinct pitches. how would adding an audio version of what a slit drum sounds like enhance the listener's experience of this part of the text?

The listener's experience would be enhanced by the addition of a slit drums sound in two significant ways.

The listener would recognize the tones and pitches the text refers to near the end. Therefore she could more easily understand the range of sound of said slit drum.

The listener would remember the text better through being allowed to use a different sense to grasp the concept. The learning experience would be linked to the sound in the listener's mind which in turn would increase its likelihood for successful recollection.

It occurred chiefly due to the economic interventionism of the Japanese government and partly due to the aid and assistance of the U.S. aid to Asia. After World War II, the U.S. established a significant presence in Japan to slow the expansion of Soviet influence in the Pacific.
