A mail distribution center processes as many as 150,000 pieces of mail each day. The mail is sent via ground and air. Each land

carrier takes 2000 pieces per load and each air carrier 1500 pieces per load. The loading equipment is able to handle as many as 200 loads per day. Let x be the number of loads by land carriers and y the number of loads by air carriers. Which system of inequalities represents this situation? Click on the correct answer.

Write the inequality expression for "<span>Each land carrier takes 2000 pieces per load and each air carrier 1500 pieces per load"
Total mails should not exceed the capability of mail distribution center, that is 150,000 per day. In other words the total mails is less than or equal to 150,000.
2000x + 1500y </span>≤ 150,000

Write the inequality expression for "<span>The loading equipment is able to handle as many as 200 loads per day"
</span>x + y ≤ 200

The number of loads shouldn't be negative
x ≥ 0
y ≥ 0

SUMMARY
The inequality system for the problem is
2000x + 1500y ≤ 150,000
x + y ≤ 200
x ≥ 0
y ≥ 0

Find the doubling time of an investment earning 7% interest if interest is compounded continuously
Alex

Answer:

The doubling time of this investment would be 9.9 years.

Step-by-step explanation:

The appropriate equation for this compound interest is

A = Pe^(rt), where P is the principal, r is the interest rate as a decimal fraction, and t is the elapsed time in years.

If P doubles, then A = 2P

Thus, 2P = Pe^(0.07t)

Dividing both sides by P results in 2 = e^(0.07t)

Take the natural log of both sides:  ln 2 = 0.07t.

Then t = elapsed time = ln 2

                                       --------- = 0.69315/0.07 = 9.9

                                         0.07

The doubling time of this investment would be 9.9 years.

4. Solve the following equations and verify your answers: (i) 3 (x + 7) = 18
stiv31 [10]

Answer:

8.33333333333

Step-by-step explanation:

Solution for 3x-7=18 equation:

3x - 7 = 18

3x = 18 + 7

3x = 25 (divide both sides by 3 to get x)

3x/3 = 25/3

x = 8.33333333333

Topic: Parallel and Perpendicular Lines
Eddi Din [679]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

an equation perpendicular to the equation given will have a slope of -1, because a perpendicular slope is opposite and reciprical. if it goes through the point 4,-1 and has a slope of -1, the y intercept has to be 3. y = -x + 3

parallel lines have to have the same slope of 3.
