There is a 0.992:8 or 1:8 ratio/probability that at least one of the donors is a type O blood type or a universal donor. 12.4% was multiplied with the current number of population which is 8, and the result is 0.992 or 1% chance. This means that 1 out of 8 of the donors are O type and can become a universal donor; the rest of the population are a mixture of the other blood types.

Answer:

The correct option is A) the hypothalamus

Explanation:

The hypothalamus is a part of the diencephalon located below the thalamus and formed by several nuclei of neurons with their associated nerve fibers, many of them neurosecretory nature, that is, to the hypothalamus, afferent and efferent pathways arrive and depart respectively, which connect it with different regions of the brain and outside it, receives signals from internal sensory receptors and, in response, sends orders through pathways in which very few synapses intervene to quickly generate regulatory responses, for this reason, the hypothalamus is considered the center of neuroendocrine, autonomous and homeostatic regulation, which acts as an integrating center coordinating environmental messages, rhythms, endogenous development patterns, emotions and body signals, to finally produce, in an integrated way, early autonomous responses and relatively late endocrine responses.

Answer:

I will have a greater increase in vasopressin secretion than my friend who donated blood.

Explanation:

Vasopressin, also known as Arginine vasopressin (AVP), Argipressin, or Antidiuretic hormone (ADH), is synthesized in the hypothalamus, and is released from the posterior pituitary gland, into the genreral circulation in response to a hypertonic extracellular fluid concentration. When a person looses a large volume of water from the body, from whatever cause, the blood becomes hypertonic, and the total volume of body fluids reduces (hypertonic, hypovolemic), in response to this change, ADH acts on the cells of the Distal Convoluted Tubule and Collecting Duct of the kidneys to reabsorb water into the blood, hence resulting in the excretion of a more concentrated urine with a reduced volume, this tends to return the tonicity of the blood towards the normal.

In the instances given in this example, when I lost 0.5L of sweat, which contains about 99% water, I loose more body water than my friend who donated blood with a total plasma volume of 0.5L, because plasma contains 92%, which is less volume of water than what I lost.
