Huey and Dunham (1987) measured the running speed of fence lizards, Sceloporus merriam,in Big Bend National Park in Texas. Indiv

idual lizards were captured and placed in a 2.3-meter raceway, where their running speeds were measured. Lizards were then tagged and released. The data from the researchers is presented in modified form below. The lizard collections have occurred over three different years to see if the sprint speed of tagged lizards is changing over time.
Sprint Speed (m/s)

8 1.80 1.80 1.78
9 1.87 1.87 2.04

The null hypothesis is that the mean of the lizard speed measurements are only different due to chance while the alternative hypothesis states that at least one year is different from the others.

Answer:

applying one way ANOVA:

R² = SSR / SST

    = 0.133/1.807

     =0.0734

Source of Variation SS     df       MS       F   P-value    F0.05(2.27)

treatments               0.133      2      0.066      1.069   0.3574      3.354

error                       1.675     27     0.062

Total                        1.807     29

as p value is not significantly low:

Do the ANOVA results indicate that the null hypothesis (H0) can be rejected in favor of the alternative hypothesis (HA)? -No

Juana is 4 feet 8 inches tall. She won 1st place in a cross country race. To receive her medal she stood on a platform that was
ioda

Answer:

The distance from the top of her head to the floor is 6 feet 2 inches.

Step-by-step explanation:

In his case Juana's height is given to us with two kinds of units, feet and inches, in order to make our solution easyer we will transform her height to only inches. In 1 feet we have 12 inches, so we need to take the part of her height that is given in feet and multiply it by 12. We have:

height = 4*12 + 8 = 56 inches

Since she is in a platform that is 18 inches tall the distance from the top of her head to the floor is her height plus the height of the platform. We have:

distance = height + platform = 56 + 18 = 74 inches

We can now transform back to a mixed unit, we do that by dividing the distance by 12 that will be the "feet" part and the res of the division will be the "inches" part. We have:

distance = 74/12 = 6 feet 2 inches

The distance from the top of her head to the floor is 6 feet 2 inches.

9. If each of the following pairs represents a pair of equivalent rational
Oksi-84 [34.3K]

Answer:

-35/6

Step-by-step explanation:

We need to find the value of x , And the given pair of Rational numbers are equal.

<u>Question</u><u> </u><u>(</u><u>I)</u><u> </u><u>:</u><u>-</u><u> </u>

→ 3/4 = 7/x

→ 7/x = 3/4

→ 1/x = 3/4 × 1/7

→ 1/x = 3/28

→ x = 28/3

<u>Question</u><u> (</u><u>ii)</u><u> </u><u>:</u><u>-</u><u> </u>

→ x/7 = -5/6

→ x = -5/6 × 7

→ x = -35/6

<h3>• Hence the value of x is -35/6 .</h3>

Factor the equation 45x - 81
alex41 [277]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

45x = 9*5*x

81 = 9*9

GCF = 9

Take 9 out using distributive property { a*b - c*b = b*(a-b)}

45x - 81 = 9*5x - 9*9

            = 9*(5x - 9)

          =9(5x-9)
