Information on a prospective investment for Wells Financial Services is given below. Period 1 2 3 4 Loan Funds Available 3000 70

00 4000 5000 Investment Income (% of previous period's investment) 110% 112% 113% Maximum Investment 4500 8000 6000 7500 Payroll Payment 100 120 150 100 In each period, funds available for investment come from two sources: loan funds and income from the previous period's investment. Expenses, or cash outflows, in each period must include repayment of the previous period's loan plus 8.5% interest, and the current payroll payment. In addition, to end the planning horizon, investment income from period 4 (at 110% of the investment) must be sufficient to cover the loan plus interest from period 4. The difference in these two quantities represents net income, and is to be maximized. How much should be borrowed and how much should be invested each period?

Answer:

Let Lt = Loan in period t , t= 1...4

It = Investment in period t, t= 1...4

These are the decision variables

The objective is to maximize the net income which is the difference between Loan and investment in period 4

Investment income in period 4 = 110% of I4 = 1.1I4

Expense and loan in period 4 = 1.085 L4

So,

Maximize Z =  1.1I4-1.085 L4

Constraints

L1<= 3000

I1<= 4500

L1-I1= 100( Payroll payment)

L2<= 7000

I2<= 8000

L2+1.1I1-1.085L1-I2=120

L3<=4000

I3<= 6000

L3+1.12I2-1.085L2-I3=150

L4<=5000

I4<=7500

L4+1.13*I3-1.085L3-I4=100

1.10I4-1.085L4>=0

Lt, It>=0

ohaa [14]

Answer: 16.9697%

Explanation:

Sales = $165 million

Assets in beginning of year = $280 million

Assets return on start of the year = 10%

Return\ on\ Net\ Assets =\frac{Operating\ Profit}{Net\ Assets}\times 100

\frac{Return\ on\ Net\ Assets\times Net\ Assets}{100} =Operating\ Profit

\frac{10\times 280}{100} =Operating\ Profit

Operating Profit = 28

Operating\ Profit\ Margin = \frac{Operating\ Profit}{Sales\ revenue}

Operating\ Profit\ Margin = \frac{28}{165}\times 100

                                                  =  16.9697%

Answer: c. Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures

Explanation:

The Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures is like a one stop for the knowledge the President of the company seeks. Adopted after Congress passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, it provides assistance to employers, labor organizations, employment agencies, and licensing and certification boards to comply with requirements of Federal law.

They also apply to all selection procedures used to make employment decisions from interviews to evaluation of performance.

It's a very insightful read really.

astraxan [27]

Answer:

The registered representative should accept the client's sell order, but must mark the order ticket as a long term. The representative can accept the order because it is reasonable that the client will be able to deliver the shares by the time of the settlement. If the representative marked the order ticket as a short sale, it is probable that the client will not be able to deliver the shares on time.

Len [333]

Answer:

1. $13,240

2. 16,000 units

3. 22,000 units.

Explanation:

The question is answered as follows

Part 1: Determine the total sales for the first quarter as follows

January Sales in Units = 400 Units

February Sales Units = 400 x 110% or 1.1= 440 units

March Sales Unites = 440 x 110% or 1.1. = 484 units

Total Sales = 1,324 x $10 = $13, 240

Part 3: Determine the Production Units as follows

Sales Units + Closing Inventory of finished goods - The Opening Inventory of finished goods

= 20,000 units + 5,000 units - 3000 units = 22,000 units
