let total earnings = x

and number of hours = y

so x=60+5.25y is the formula

so for 4 hours replace y with 4

x = 60+5.25(4)

x = 81, so for 4 hours she made $81

Let y = hours
equation: 5.25y + 60

To find out how much she would make after 4 hours, insert 4 in place of y:
5.25 x 4 + 60
21 + 60
81

After 4 hours, Rae earns $81.

pshichka [43]

Answer:

y=1, x=2

Step-by-step explanation:

x+y=3

x-y=1

Using elimination method

Substitute y=1 into equation 2

x-1=1

x=1+1

x=2

What is the solution to the linear equation? 2/3x-1/2=1/3+5/6x
creativ13 [48]
2/3x - 1/2 = 1/3 + 5/6x....multiply the entire equation by the common denominator of 6...this will get rid of the fractions.

6(2/3x - 1/2) = 6(1/3 + 5/6x) =
4x - 3 = 2 + 5x...subtract 5x from both sides
4x - 5x - 3 = 2...add 3 to both sides
4x - 5x = 2 + 3...combine terms
-x = 5...multiply by -1 to make x positive
x = -5
